When I got a new laptop for Christmas this year, I was surprised to find that it did not come with an owner?s manual. I looked through the box three different times, and even turned upside down to shake it. Nothing fell out. I was baffled by this, and thought that if anything should come with an owner?s manual it would be a computer. I know that the older desktop model that we have in our office came with one, so I just assumed that my new laptop would come with one as well.
When I went to the manufacturer?s web site, I found that the owner?s manual was not missing from my box. The manual for this particular computer was online, and I could print out if I wanted to. This seemed like a huge waste of ink and paper to me, so I just bookmarked the site in case I need it. Because I am very familiar with computers, I really didn?t have much need for an owner?s manual, but it is always nice to have one just in case. There have been a few times when I?ve had to go to web site to figure something out, but for the most part, it is not been something that I have needed.
One reason why the owner?s manual is so important for many things is because it often has phone numbers and contact information you will need if you have a problem. It will also give you information on your warranty, if you have one, and other important system information. I know that my digital camera came with an owner?s manual, as did most of the electronic pieces that are in my entertainment center. Even my mobile phone came with one.
If you do get an owner?s manual with anything, makes you put away in a safe place. Many of the things you buy are purchased for a particular reason. However, if you look through the owner?s manual, you will find that these items do more than you thought they did. There are often special features that would be helpful to you, but you had no idea that they were there. Reading through an owner?s manual will alert you to many of these special things, and can tell you how to use them. This helps you get the most out of your equipment, and can sometimes save you a lot of aggravation.
