student discounts 03 by Publication Critique

Ah, the days of homework, exams, endless running around and tight budgets. Anyone who has been to college knows what I mean. Maybe you finished a few years back and don't miss it one bit, or maybe you're currently in the midst of your sophomore year. It's a routine and lifestyle you grow used to after a semester or so. Now, just because there are several hardships of college life, doesn't mean there aren't any perks. There's plenty of partying if you're up for it, there are numerous clubs and University-based activities, there's diverse culture, freedom from parents, and let's not forget about student discounts. Far too often students overlook the discounts they can receive with that almighty ID.
I was a bit slow catching on. The sad thing is it wasn't until my sophomore year that I began thinking about student discounts. I was at the local movie theater one night with a few buddies and when we approached the window to pay, they all whipped out their student IDs. I was naturally standing there like a shmuck. Then I quickly brandished my student ID as well. Heck, if they were getting a discount with these nifty little cards, I wasn't going to miss out on the savings. This was a night of revolution for me. From there on out I attempted to get student discounts everywhere I went. Some places gave me a weird look and declined the ID. I suppose not everyone is going to honor the almighty student discount, but it's certainly worth a shot. Check out some of the savings I experienced in college. I received 100 dollars off my Mac laptop, all discounts on movie theaters, discounts in local bars, savings on school supplies, and even discounts in numerous eateries near campus. You'd have to be a fool not to take full advantage of this student benefit.
It doesn't stop with the basic, routine activities. One of the greatest student discounts I received concerned my health and dental insurance. We all need these, so if you're a full-time student at a University, you might as well get the discount. You never know when you might need a dental check-up of visit to the emergency room.
