t shirt screen printing 04 by Publication Critique

I have always found t shirt design to be one of the best ways to express myself. I only have to spend an hour or so drawing up the perfect design. Then I can print it out on a transfer, iron it onto my shirt, and I have a work of wearable art. I get compliments all of the time on my t-shirts. People just can't get enough of them! I even get commissions from friends from time to time.
The problem is that t-shirt transfers do not tend to last. That is why I have grown to like t shirt screen printing. The great thing about custom t shirt screen printing is that, not only does it last much longer, but the quality is vastly superior. The resolution is better, the colors are brighter, and it doesn't start to flake off after a few washings. I like this way of doing my t-shirts so much that for a while I was ordering my own custom printed t shirt designs off of the Internet. Then I discovered something interesting. You can actually screen print t-shirts from home.
One of the great things about homemade t shirt screen printing is that you have complete control over the process. If you are paying for someone else to do the t shirt screen printing, you have to come up with a design, send it away, and wait for it to be done. Although there are many reputable studios that will do a great job screen printing tee shirts, you still do not have as much control over the process. If it doesn't turn out the way you expected, you can't go back and redo it.
When you do your t shirt screen printing at home, on the other hand, you have much more control. You can mix and remix the colors until they are just perfect. You can do several runs of your t shirt screen printing with ease until you find the perfect color combination. You can make subtle changes between different editions. On top of all this, the do-it-yourself method is much cheaper. No one wants to spend a lot of money for t shirt screen printing when the whole process can be done very cheaply at home. Unless you are doing an extremely large run, or you need to have perfect quality, I recommend doing your t shirt screen printing at home instead of hiring a company to do it.
