stun batons 03 by Publication Critique

The world and time have provided us all with countless examples. The fact that violence happens redundantly and to good people is certainly not a mystery. Is this God's way of cleansing the planet? I seriously doubt it. I'm not exactly a firm believer in the "everything happens for a reason" spiel. Too much of that theory doesn't add up. I feel that some humans are good and some are bad. Regardless of the fact that we all have good and evil in us somewhere, we each tend to choose a path. The majority of us choose the right one, but have to steer clear of those who don't. This can and often does entail forms of self-defense, and possibly even weapons or modern devices created to deter assailants. Ever seen modern stun batons. These can be rather intimidating to say the least.
The very first stun gun I ever laid eyes on was back in the 90s. It was a compact, hand-held stun gun that delivered 60,000 volts of electricity in a single shot. Touching that baby to your flesh could certainly leave a burn mark behind. Not something I cared to mess with. it belonged to my buddy's father, who carried it in his truck for protection. Probably the only man I knew back then who didn't carry a firearm of some sort. You get that a lot in small country towns. Anyway, the last thing you want is to get shocked by one of these heart-stoppers. My gut instinct told me that when we lit it up. That crackling blue shock wave between the two prongs said it all. Down the road I started noticing more and more stun guns, tazers, pepper spray, tear gas pistols and stun batons hit the market. Clearly there was a high demand for these self-defense weapons. I recall one day in high school I was shocked to see a stun baton in a catalog advertising it's 180,000 volt power. YIKES, that could kill a man. Who is really going to tote one of these high-tech stun batons around in their purse or coat pocket. Some look like they're meant for cattle.
Don't snag the first cool looking device you see on the web. There are plenty of self-defense options to select from. While stun batons are one route, there is also Mace pepper spray, tactical flashlights, personal alarms, and now they're even coming out with pepper spray pellets that fire like a bullet. I think it's Surefire who offers this. Just be sure you know how to handle the device you do carry. That's imperative!
